When Paul registered this show in Edinburgh 2026, he was advised to "make the title explanatory." This resulted in a downward spiral of overthinking that lead to him calling it "Title Explained In Blurb - The Musical (Well, sort of)." True to his word, the title was indeed explained in the blurb. What was NOT explained was the show itself. D'oh.
Welsh multi-instrumentalist and vocal chameleon, Paul Dennis takes you on a whistle-stop tour of pop history in a joy-filled, high-energy hour of hilarious songs as he reflects on 50 years lived with no idea he was neurodivergent. "Smart, sharp and side-splittingly funny" - Ignacio Lopez, "You literally never know where the next gag or song is going to take you" - One4Review.
In its previous incarnation, the title "Title Explained In Blurb - The Musical (Well, Sort Of)" created the impression it's a musical. It isn't. Nothing wrong with musical theatre, mind you. Paul grew up with it, along with intensely religious parents, which Paul covers in uproarious technicolour, btw.
But, it's not a musical. It's a comedy show that tells a story and shares reflections on Paul's life thru the lens of neurodiversity. These experiences and observations are illustrated with either original songs or one of around 150 song parodies he has written in the last 12 months. There isn't time to play them all, of course, so he gets the audience einvolved to help him choose. But "what kind of music do you like" doesn't really qualify as crowdwork. So, he urges you to chill your beans about potentially being "picked on" 🙂
The vast majority of material about Autism and ADHD is all illustrated thru songs. It's light, observational and highly relatable whether you're neurodivergent or adjacent by familial or social bonds.
There's some investigation into musical comedy itself, as well which gives it some self-awareness. The meta texture seems to keep the anoraks happy, anyway.
Paul says it's a joy to perform and audiences seem to feel the same about watching it.

"Feel good music and a good insight on what it is like to feel autistic. 10/10. Would see again." C.
