Overview
Join us for another fantastic night of comedy at Belper Rugby Club. RockCentral has been hosting comedy in Belper since 2019, so we know what you like!
Our regular MC, Anthony Williams hand picks the acts and you will see the very best of the UK Comedy Circuit, including TV names
Anthony Williams is a Derbyshire-based comedian, promoter and host, known for his warm, sharp and self-deprecating style. As the founder of RockCentral Promotions, he produces comedy nights across the Midlands and beyond, while his own stand-up blends everyday daftness, personal stories and the quiet panic of trying to be a functioning adult....
Steve Hall is a stand-up comedian and writer, who has opened for the likes of Lee Mack, Bill Burr and most notably Russell Howard, for whom he was the support across 6 different tours, playing venues such as Wembley Arena, the O2 and the Albert Hall. He has taken several well received shows to the Edinburgh Festival. (“His phrasing is joyous and his choice of words close to poetic…tales of hilarious woe” – Metro)
In 2022 he embarked upon a successful joint-headline tour with his Russell Howard Hour co-writer Steve Williams, with further tour dates planned for the latter part of 2023. He is due to release a filmed show with the hugely respected comedy production company Go Faster Stripe.
Steve was the first ever guest stand-up on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC), and went on to write on 6 series of that show, and 6 series of The Russell Howard Hour (Sky). He has also written for numerous comedians on Mock The Week, and for shows such as a League of Their Own and The Now Show. He is a regular guest on The Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio and has appeared on The Rest is History, Act Your Age and My Teenage Diary for BBC Radio 4.
Steve was also one third of legendary sketch group We Are Klang – “stupid comedy done with great intelligence” (The Times) – alongside Greg Davies and Marek Larwood. Steve wrote and starred in the group’s sitcom series for BBC 3 in 2009. We Are Klang were nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show in 2006, and the Barry Award at 2007’s Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Steve has directed many critically acclaimed live shows, including the 2007 Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated show from Pappy’s, Tom Ward’s first two Edinburgh shows, Norris and Parker’s breakthrough show See You At The Gallows, and Annie McGrath’s brilliant 2019 show Shepherd. He has also been parachuted in many times at the last minute to turn 1 star shows into 3 star shows, usually in late July. He has also worked providing joke consultancy and punch up with comedians such as Iain Stirling, Steve Bugeja, Chris Turner and Ashley Blaker.
Recently, Steve supported Frank Skinner on Tour in 2024 and opened for him at The Gielgud Theatre in August 2024.
“The most intelligent stand-up you’ve never heard of” (GQ)
“Russell Howard’s fine support act” (The Times)
“One fine comic” (Time Out)...
