Angela Barnes

Angela Barnes swapped a career in health and social care for stand up in 2010 and hasn’t looked back. Within just a couple of years she had won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2011 and has since toured the UK and starred in BBC Two’s iconic 21 series Mock the Week as a regular, as well as Live at the Apollo, and Hypothetical on Dave. She is a firm favourite on BBC Radio 4, having featured on The Now Show and The News Quiz – including a recent stint as the host, she also hosted BBC Radio 4 Extra’s Newsjack. Angela co-hosted the less-than-serious popular podcast We Are History, which has just teamed up with Podmasters, with John O’Farrell. Six series strong and with over a million downloads, the two history nerds discuss, explain, and laugh at interesting and quirky episodes from the olden days.

Matt Richardson

Having started stand-up in 2009 at 18 years old, Matt became one of the youngest comedians on the circuit and soon made it through to the finals of two national stand-up competitions – the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny and the Chortle Student Comedy Award – as well as coming runner up in the Reading Comedy Festival New Act of the Year and winning the Newbury and Bath Comedy Festival new act competitions – all while still in his teens. He quickly established himself in all of the major comedy club chains in the UK and has gigged overseas on countless occasions. Today he’s one of the most in-demand headliners in the UK, regularly booked for major gigs & Festivals. Jump forward to today and Matt is a seasoned TV host, having presented shows such as The Hangover Games (E4) and The Red Bull Soapbox Race (Dave), Celebrity Haunted Mansion and Celebrity Haunted Hotel (W) alongside Christine Lampard, and helming the spin off shows for both alone. He has also hosted two different ITV2 Documentaries – Pampered Pooches: Hollywood and Meet The Family Guys, both filmed in LA, and helmed Just Tattoo Of Us: The Aftermath for MTV. His first ever presenting gig was hosting The Xtra Factor (ITV2) in 2013 alongside Caroline Flack at the age of 22. He was the host of Virgin Radio’s Drive Time Show for three years, a stint that earned him an ARIA Award nomination for Funniest Show, before he left to focus on his true passion of comedy. He was co-host of the hit comedy podcast When No One’s Watching, alongside Matt Willis of Busted, welcoming guests including Keith Lemon, Tom Fletcher, Darren Harriott, Emma Willis, and Helen Bauer. He followed that up with I Am Prime Minister which ran for two series, and now co-hosts the gardening podcast A Little Bit Green alongside Angela Barnes. As well as all the presenting he has appeared on hundreds other TV shows, including Comedy Game Night, Roast Battle & Drunk History (Comedy Central), Nevermind The Buzzcocks (BBC2), Celebrity Juice, CelebAbility, The Stand Up Sketch Show series 2 & 3, Hey Tracey, The Chase: Celebrity Christmas Special, The Chris Ramsey Show, Top Gear: Extra Gear, Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2), and pretty much any spin-off show you can name… On stage, Matt has built up an impressive run of solo tours: his first ever award-winning tour Hometown Hero in 2013, running 54 dates into spring 2014; Slash, which he took to Edinburgh in 2017 to several 5 star reviews before touring for 60 dates; Imposter in 2019; and most recently Brash, which he took out on the road across the UK before releasing it as his first stand-up special on YouTube in June. Since then, Matt has found a whole new audience online, with his “Another Good Question” TikTok series and stand-up clips racking up over 100 million views in the space of a year.
