“Being in Central London these days is like being in a failed Soviet Dictatorship, if the dictator in question happened to be Paddington Bear.”
If We Fight Like Animals, We Die Like Animals is a stand-up comedy show about the weirdest time in a comedian's life... so far.
In 2019, after a crushing blow to the day-job, James chose "the art life", throwing themselves into the creative world, heart open, and eyes watering with the menthol freshness of the breath of possibilities. Later that year, someone licked a bat and everyone had to stay inside. The world was never the same. James kept on with the creative dream, studied, made connections, until they finally stepped out into the big wide post-pandemic world, where the green chutes of recovery filled James once more with hope.
And then Liz Truss decided the economy was too mouthy, so she’d show it who the daddy was.
James is now a depressed ex-tour guide grappling with what it means to be English. Mind still boggling with the memories of nightmare customers, a job they hated, and far too much royal gossip to be useful for anyone, James is shambling their way, one stage at a time.
Can they still live the art life? Can they still find hope?
