Human Safari
What happens when a wildlife scientist turns his attention away from the animals and starts studying the humans?
In Human Safari, Onojie Idemudia takes the audience on a comedic expedition into the strange, fascinating and often ridiculous behaviour of our own species.
Drawing on his experience as a wildlife scientist in Nigeria and his life in Britain, Onojie explores human behaviour through the same lens we use to understand the animal kingdom. Why do we behave the way we do? Why do we create rituals around dating, relationships, family and masculinity? And why do we insist on calling ourselves civilised when so much of what we do is driven by instinct, status, attraction and the need to fit in?
The show moves between stand up, personal storytelling, scientific observations and audience interaction. Animals, humans and even the occasional plant become part of the investigation as Onojie looks at the similarities and differences between our species and the natural world.
The audience aren’t simply observers. They become part of the experiment, with their reactions, opinions and behaviour helping to shape the journey.
Funny, personal and occasionally provocative, Human Safari is an exploration of what makes us human, viewed from the perspective of someone who has spent his career studying everything else.
Come for the comedy. Stay for the field research.
